Garden Consultation Services

Nancy's experience & practices

Actively gardening for 34 years has been a joy and a passion. Professionally I have worked in greenhouses, for landscapers, at garden centers and for my own Lake Country Perennial Gardener, LLC business where my focus was on cottage gardens. More recently, I have been enjoying gardening for pollinators and wildlife.  I have grown plants from seed, designed, planted, and maintained gardens – my own and for clients.

Now I am here to help you.  I can help guide you so you can create your own nature space. If your goal is to help wildlife, grow for cutting and enjoying flowers, or add edible and beneficial plants to your vegetable garden, we can work that into your plan.

My goal in assisting clients is to listen carefully to their hopes and dreams and then provide ideas to help them fulfill that vision.   I believe in sharing an honest opinion with what it involves to make that dream come true so my client can undertake prep, purchasing, planting and maintaining. The full-scope of this undertaking is invaluable for anyone ready to build a garden space. I can help guide you through the process; how to build, plant, maintain and care for the space we design together.  Together we will help create a habitat where the wildlife, and insects (and humans) can thrive.

You share your dream, through my garden experience I will help you make your dream a place where wildlife abounds, and you will enjoy spending time for many years.

Services Provided

1. What to expect from a consultation (2 hr minimum)

An informal interview with the client to listen to their vision and goals.

A site visit includes a walk around the area to listen, share, and discuss what might be appropriate given conditions.

I will share recommendations, noting things to consider planting and any advance preparation needed. (I recommend a soil analysis which can be done ahead of our consultation, so unforeseen soil conditions are not a problem) Consultations are typically 2 hours. Please call Nancy for consultation information.

2. What to expect from a Sketch

A hand drawn design/sketch of layout recommended showing flower colors and bloom time.  This sketch is yours to keep and work off when you plant. Note: not a computer design, but as a graphic artist I will give you a good map to work from. (Sketch + plant List priced together dependent on size of project, time/materials/site study).
